RL N #7946 was produced in late 1924 and was subsequently sold to its first owner in Spain, Señ. Juan José Ribas, an industrialist with residences in both Barcelona and on Mallorca. Like all RL intended for export, the car was sold as a rolling chassis only and went to a coachbuilder in Barcelona, J. Farré to receive its most elegant Sedanca de Ville bodywork. Señ. Ribas must have had quite unlimited means, since the Alfa was equipped with many luxurious details and fine Caboa/Mahogany woodwork.

It took almost two years to finish the car and Señ. Ribas had to wait up to early 1926 before he could take delivery. The RL was first registered in April/26 under the Majorcan registration BA-2604, and the RL would spend most of its life there, changing hands only once, up to 1997, when it got sold to the Spanish mainland / Barcelona.

Under this ownership, the RL participated in a number of outings and rallies, proving its exceptional originality and reliability. In 2006, the Alfa was invited to the Concours at Ville d’Este.

Since 2016, this RL has been part of a larger collection and was sitting in a dry, living-room style man-cave among dozens of other exceptional cars. It is still a uniquely unmolested, time-warp example of one of Alfa Romeos earliest, magnificent motorcars.
