1962 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Series II

Factory Display Car London Motor Show 1962, ex Bill Harrah

Chassis BC49LCZ
Engine C48BC (matching)
Body H.J. Mulliner #6442

One of only 55 LHD examples built from 1960-1962, this aluminium bodied beauty was first delivered in late 1961 to Sherry Harrah, the wife of the legendary collector Bill Harrah, who also owned Modern Classic Motors, the Nevada distributors for Rolls Royce, Bentley and Ferrari at that time. The factory records indicate that that it was well optioned with dashboard mounted altimeter, air conditioning, Sundym glass, electric antenna, and the seldom seen power window option on all four doors, as it remains today.

This low mileage and highly original car has been excellently preserved, benefitting from the dry climate in the states of Nevada, California and Texas. In 2000, after 38 years and only three ownerships, it was completely overhauled by Vantage Motorworks in Florida. At that time the white outside colour was changed to dark Oxford Blue, which it still wears today. After the refurbishment, the car was presented at the Amelia Island Concours in 2002, where it captured the Amelia Island Award Trophy against some worthy competition.

In 2008, one of our workshop customers took the opportunity to buy this outstanding example, had it shipped to Germany and added it to his collection. It has been regularly serviced since and used on numerous occasions. This car starts on the button and virtually needs nothing.

The Bentley comes with all its original tools, factory records, invoices, correspondence etc.

The original chassis, engine and body have never been separated from each other and there are no collisions or other "horror stories" in its 61 year history.
